The following tables are for XLPE & PVC insulated armoured copper cables. They contain condensed information & should not be considered complete and all inclusive on its own. Users are advised to refer to BS 7671 for installation, usage & reverence information and the associated limitations and defined conditions. The current carrying capabilities given in the tables for a.c. operation apply only to frequencies in the range 49 to 61 Hz.

Conducting operating temperature (PVC): 70°C
Conducting operating temperature (XLPE): 90°C
Ambient temperature: 30°C

Current carrying capacity of a cable for continuous service is affected by ambient temperature, by grouping, by partial or total enclosure in thermal insulating material and for a.c. by frequency- as such, appropriate corrections factors from BS 7671 need to be applied.
